Hi, I’m Meredith

I help busy, curious humans calm their nervous systems, reconnect with their bodies, and rediscover a sense of ease through yoga, breathwork, and the science of how our brains respond to stress.

I’m also a neuroscientist, yoga teacher, scuba diver, and retreat leader. My work lives at the intersection of science, movement, and adventure, translating what we know about the brain into simple practices that help people feel stronger, calmer, and more at home in their bodies.

My path to yoga

My yoga journey began nearly twenty years ago in the middle of my PhD.

At the time I was exhausted, anxious, and sleeping terribly. Like many scientists, I spent most of my time in my head.

A friend convinced me to try a Bikram yoga class, and ninety minutes later I walked out drenched in sweat and, for the first time in months, quiet inside my own mind.

That moment sparked a curiosity that never left me.

Over the years I deepened my personal practice while continuing my scientific career, and completing many hours of yoga teacher trainings across Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative yoga, and pranayama.

What fascinates me most is how ancient yogic practices and modern neuroscience often point to the same truth: the body and breath are powerful gateways into regulating the nervous system and restoring balance.

Weekly Yoga Classes

I teach gentle but challenging classes grounded in alignment, breath awareness, and curiosity about how the body and brain work.

Students often say they appreciate the blend of science and accessibility. I love sharing small insights from neuroscience that explain why practices like slow breathing, mindful movement, and stillness can have such profound effects on the brain and body.

Retreats

Join one of my retreats:  awe-filled experiences combining yoga, breathwork, and wild adventure like scuba diving in turquoise seas or hiking among ancient trees.

“Meredith provides excellent instruction, making participants feel valued and that this is a precise and beneficial practice."

Private Yoga

If you’re curious about exploring yoga through the lens of neuroscience, breathwork, and adventure, I’d love to practice together.

Community and outreach

I care deeply about making science and wellness practices accessible to everyone, especially women and girls. I've partnered with Scientific Adventures for Girls, Project Scientist, Girls Inc., and the Lawrence Berkeley Hall of Science to help young people discover science through curiosity and confidence.

That same spirit shapes my work with women. I'm fascinated by the intersection of neuroscience, hormones, and wellbeing, and I offer workshops supporting women through life's transitions with science-informed yoga and breathwork. I've also brought this work to The Yoga Expo (2025 and 2026), the Neuroscience & Yoga Community Showcase, and podcasts like Yoga & Leadership and Be Create Inspire.

If this work resonates with you, or if you're looking for a speaker or podcast guest at the intersection of neuroscience, yoga, and women's wellbeing, I'd love to connect!
